Are you an early-career environmental professional in Ontario looking to build your network, career, and leadership skills? The Young Conservation Professionals (YCP) Leadership Program call for applications is open until February 13, 2015. [NOTE: this deadline has been extended until February 27th or until program enrollment is full.]
For 10 years, the Young Conservation Professionals (YCP) Leadership Program, based at the University of Guelph and generously supported by the Arthur D. Latornell Endowment Fund, has developed the leadership and management skills of early-career professionals in Ontario’s environmental sector.
Since 2005, 187 professionals from 85 different government agencies, ENGOs, and businesses in Ontario, including 23 of the 36 Conservation Authorities, have graduated from YCP.
The program is structured for working professionals who enroll in YCP concurrently with their work schedule and apply their learning in the program to real-world, on-the-job projects at their employer. The program accepts up to 20 participants each year.
The program culminates in a graduation ceremony at the A. D. Latornell Conservation Symposium in November.
Testimonials from recent graduates:
“I would recommend this program to anyone looking at shaping their career path, because I think it gives you the tools to take control, learn from your peers, create opportunities and set realistic goals.”
“I would advise that they would gain skills (or at least more insight) required in the sector & that they would get a sense of others working in their field (that they would not normally connect with, or talk to as extensively) making them feel like they are part of a network moving towards a common goal (with similar obstacles!).
“…it was one of the single greatest experiences in my professional career! Its so hard to put into words what this program meant to me. I would say there is no single program that will help you develop your personal and professional life than this program!”
“…the program is great way to re-energize your career, learn new things, keep you current, and above everything else a great way to network with like minded individuals.”
